I have a 1 1/2 year old, female Shih Tzu. She is having some skin problems. She tends to bite around her backside, near her bottom. We have put her on a non-wheat diet, that didn't reduce the itching what so ever. We have given her flea medicine, and we wash her with flea shampoo everytime we give her a bath, which is about once a week. I don't know what is causing her to itch so much! We have taken her to a vet, and all they could do was give us a medicated shampoo for her skin. Even that didn't even work! So what is going on here?

Thank You For Your Help!

What flea meds are you using? . What medicated shampoo did the vet give you?

Yikes why on earth would the vet allow you to wash your dog once a week with flea shampoo? Flea shampoo, even if its "all natural" is not for once a week use. Your flea meds should take care of the problem.

Did the vet express her anal glands?

I agree with both suggestions.
