They certainly are wonderfulAwww, I love Shibas, they one of the dog breeds I really want in the future.
Oh hey! I just realized you're from Canada too!! Who is the breeder you get your shibas from? And how are their dogs (temperament, health, etc)? I would love to know for future referenceThey certainly are wonderfulI can't wait to get another.
I'd love another one also. They're just so addictive or maybe it's the mind control thing they got going on.They certainly are wonderfulI can't wait to get another.
I got my Shiba from a very reputable breeder (from my research, one of the most reputable in Western Canada) and she's here on a small acreage in Sherwood Park. I've become fairly close to this breeder, as I fully believe in what she does to maintain this breed, and she cares about her dogs, a lot. There aren't really a ton of breeders and she is one of the few in far between IMO. I've learned alot recently about good breeding practices, and bad and she definitely, IMO lands somewhere to very high breeding standards. She doesn't run a large kennel, or have a ton of dogs, and she definitely does not run the business for financial gain, she does it for the love and passion for the dogs. She has excellent contracts, full out health testing, careful and selective breeding, and all puppies are raised in her home in a family environment, and also raw fed. I buy all my food from her, and she babysits my Shiba for me from time to time, so I spend a lot of time at her house with her dogs. Almost every time I come over to pick up food she has to show me a new dog, or new puppies and explain everything to me lol. She's a bit overwhelming sometimes with her passion for Shibas and her wealth of knowledge, but from what I see, all of her dogs have been extremely healthy, and have excellent temperments. I have referred several people to her, who've wound up purchasing Shiba (s) from her, and all have been extremely happy, and the dogs have turned out excellent. I used to have 2 of hers, I have the one still, 'Cash' whom was a former breeding/showing stud, he sired 1 litter, and last year she sold me a female, who was also a very well mannered, quiet temperment dog, who bonded instantly with me, however she was terrified of my boyfriend for some reason, she was a more sensitive dog, and my boyfriend must have yelled or raised his voice once when she was close and ever since she would shiver when he was present, she took her back and fully refunded me no questions asked. Now she has another female, a black/tan breeding bitch whom I am waiting to get my hands on in a few years when she's ready to place her...she is ultimately my dream Shiba. Anyways, here is the link to her site. http://www.shibainus.net/ tons of great info here, she also has some health testing/pedigrees, etc posted right on her site. I noticed she hasn't updated it much recently, but still lots of great info. One of breeding bitches listed under "our dogs", Lexi, is Cash's daughter.Oh hey! I just realized you're from Canada too!! LOL I think its both, they are very intriguing dogs that's for sure, I certainly can't get enough of them. I think its because you don't own the Shiba, they own you.I'd love another one also. They're just so addictive or maybe it's the mind control thing they got going on.![]()
That would be a 'Cream'. Not popular or 'standard' as my understanding. Shiba's standard colors are black/tan, red & sesame. Cash's breeder just had a cream puppy as well, in a litter of reds & sesame's. They can't be used for breeding/showing from what I told, and Cash's breeder has only had the one cream, although they are highly sought after because of the unique color and rareness, she can only sell as a pet on a spay/neuter contract for a lower price. From how she explained it to me, the cream's are considered "genetic defects" lol. although very beautiful! They are soooo cute! I finally was able to watch.
I do have a question though ... Being I am not familiar with the breed. Why is the one little pup such a light color?
