Should my 14 week old pup be shedding? I couldn'e believe all the hair that came off in the bath this morning and I brushed him a bit and a bunch came off too!

Anyone? I can see spot on him that the fur is coming off in chunks!

Normally, 14 week old puppies don't shed.

If he's losing so much fur that he has bald spots I would suggest having the vet take a look at him. It could be a thyroid problem or something else that can't be diagnosed over the internet.

I'd take him in and have a complete bloodwork done and have the vet check him over thoroughly.

He si on Canidae right now, just switched to it about a week ago i think. He is actually going to be going to a different food though once we get a little lower on the Canidae. And The "chunk" was maybe an exaggeration but i brushed him and he looks a lot better now.

How long as this shedding been going on?

Did it start before you switched to Canidae or after? It could possibly be an allergic reaction to something in the food, either Canidae or the food you were feeding.

There are several things it could be. That is why he should be looked at by a vet.

This is way too young to be shedding. There is an underlying issue that needs to be addressed. Perhaps mites or some other skin issue. Any flaking? Scratching? What breed of dog?

A little scratching. Border Collie mix. Gonna go see the vet either tomorrow or tuesday

Keep us posted on how your puppy is doing. I am curious as well why he would be shedding so much at only 14 weeks. Did you have a huge change in temperatures there?

I live in Colorado, temp changes happen all the time. We had a little snow not too long ago then the last couple days have been around 70.
