Hello fellow dog lovers.

I found this site searching for advice about the best diet for my dog, Jack, who had sudden kidney / liver failure 8 days ago. He just returned from a miraculous recovery at the hospital yesterday.

I would appreciate advice on the best diet for his condition, whether purchased or homemade. The vet gave me two cans to try - Hill's Prescription Diet k/d and Purina Veterinary Diets NF. I have to say I've never been a fan of either of these brands, but would like to hear experienced and knowledgeable opinions.

For the past year, I have been feeding my pets Nature's Variety and Merrick. I tried Honest Kitchen, but they won't eat it. Prior to that, they were raised on Halo and then Blue Buffalo. Many thanks for your help. The vet also recommended I check out petdiets.com for nutritional advice. Has anyone had experience with them? Thanks for your guidance!

Try sending a message to the poster Kathyy, she had a kidney dog and has done a ton of research on special needs diets.
