Saw the coolest dog at the neighbors

My neighbor comes out of her house with a GSD. Now, she doesn't own a GSD so this surprises me. The dog is easily one of the coolest dogs I've seen. I'm not a big fan of the GSD breed as I'm a smaller guy and don't care for dogs that can drag me all over the place. This guy nearly made me a convert.
Apparently she was watching him for a friend of hers who's husband is a military dog trainer. This GSD is a retired military guard dog.

It was very cool to watch him. She let him out and the first thing he did was walk around the entire perimeter of her unfenced front yard. He didn't go in the street or the driveway, just walked the perimeter checking things out. Then he went and sat by the front door and dared people to make his day. When the neighbor walked out he stood up and fell right in line in the heel position without her saying a word and followed her without a leash back to the backyard where she put him in the fence. I might have to steal this guy.

GSDs are great dogs... I think they do however need training... whether you own them as a pet or as working dog. You won't believe how much proper training does for a pet-owner relationship! Well trained dogs are a joy to live with! :)
