Hello! We're picking up our new baby boy soon and have a 7 hour drive from South Carolina to DC! He will be 9 weeks when we get him. My biggest concern is potty breaks. He will only have had his 6 and 9 week shots and don't want him exposed to nasty stuff on the ground. Where would be the best places to let him go out and potty? We will be bringing a crate and a lot of potty pads and towels. What places would be the safest to let him out to potty? Any ideas? Thank you in advance!

That's a good question. Maybe stop somewhere just off a side road or something where not many people would stop. The actual rest stops will have more dogs using the area too.

Put the puppy pad down over the grass and don't let him walk around off it. You may need to use several at a time. Also definitely use gas stations or fast food places instead of actual rest area, ESPECIALLY the pet areas of rest stops. You should, however, be able to get away with one, maybe 2 stops. But again, put the pad down between him and the grass.

I would suggest putting potty pads down in a non-populated area and let him do his business on the pads. The east coast is rampant with parvo and especially the southeast.

Get off the highway and find a small church yard (and DO clean up after your puppy). Usually not a lot of dogs there and not a lot of traffic (except on Sunday) so not a lot of disease...
