Hi all -

Penny (French bulldog) is under the weather. She wouldn't go to sleep last night. She had just developed a runny nose and since her nostrils are small (normal size for French bulldog), she wouldn't sleep. Then she vomited on my bed at 2 am.

I took her to my 24hr vet and it turns out Penny has a mild fever too.

They gave her a shot and some other meds I can give her 2x/day. Since she wouldn't sleep through the night, they recommended getting some Benadryl and breaking them in half to help her sleep and dry up her nose a little.

Now it's morning and she is keeping her nose elevated as high as possible because of the mucus. Has anyone experienced this before? I want to keep her nose clear so she can rest and get better. I keep dabbing her nose with Kleenex, but she looks miserable.

When I fostered a dog with kennel cough, it seemed to help her breathing and congestion to take her into the bathroom while I took a hot shower. Just like with us humans, the steam helped keep her chest loose and her nasal passages clearer.
