We've kept them apart for a week in separate rooms, and so this was the result of letting them sniff the air for a bit -- so far so good -- except Pansy has dried lick marks all over her head now, lol.
Ruby is scruffy -- reminds me a bit of Benji! I'm glad other's cats/dogs are getting along -- I had a feeling that Ruby would be overjoyed.
We've been working since we got her to do a down-stay whenever she sees a cat. She'll just sit there and look, and so will the cat!! It's come in very handy with Pansy -- and they both love to play, too. I've just let them work it out and so far, they've both set their boundaries and are now in the process of finding the most comfy position to nap together on the couch, bed and floor.
eta: I think it also helps a bit that they're both babies -- Ruby is 8 months and Pansy is 12 weeks. Hard to tell in the pics, but Pansy is a kitten (Ruby is around 12 pounds).
BIS: here are a couple of pics of Butch & Mort (when Butch was actually BIGGER than Mort). They were best buds from the beginning...soon, you will be able to have Pansy & Ruby together all the time. I have never had a situation where the dog(s) and cat did not get along. And then look at my avatar. The combination of sleeping animals is endless.
This is a video, one of my favorites.
And this is "the punch". Look closely and you'll see both of them have their tongues sticking out just a bit.
I have a Pitt Bull and a chihuahua. They never had any issues until today. Today my pug was licking my chihuahua and my chihuahua was growling gently at the pug for him to stop. Then the pitbul come to intervene and attacks my chihuahua. Some time goes by and an almost identical situation...
Sometimes I have just one or two cute pictures to share, and I don't want to start a whole thread for them. So here's a thread for everyone's one or two cute pictures, I'll start.
Maisy fell asleep with her Kong, LOL.
