Retrofitting my wheels in an attempt to make them more dog friendly. Extra large hamster water bottle to keep the pup hydrated. Dog seat cover to keep the original seat cover clean. And a dog seat belt, if i ever get pulled over for speeding hopefully the officer is a dog lover, he/she sees this setup they'll tear that ticket up fast. Keep your eyes open in the review arena, will eventually post some in depth reviews of these items...

Best way to transport a dog is a crate in the back (at least the back seat). You can anchor it with the standard seat belt. Loose dog in a vehicle is a missile in an accident. Those dog safety harnesses are notoriously useless in an accident.

I have a truck with a cap and the dog is back there in a lockable dog box (Zinger) that cost me around $800. There is a water dish back there secured to the crate that is easy to remove for cleaning. My dog fiddles with any sort of flooring in the crate (even a truck mud flap) so I put a piece of plywood in the crate bottom. The bare crate bottom is metal and slippery.

Your set up which I know you put a lot of thought into is dangerous in the event of an accident.

Here is my set up. Water bowl carrier is fixed to the bars of the crate door and can easily be removed. It is always in there though empty when traveling over non interstate roads because it will slop.
The crate is made by Zinger and is lockable.

Note the shovel handle... that is fir anyone who messes with my track. I can bury the bodies .. 😂
