Hi!

My dog is undergoing a pyometra surgery tomorrow. However, my vet ask me today to give her 3 doses of antibiotics, being the last one tomorrow right before taking her...

I wonder, doesn´t it need some time without any food/liquid before a surgery (just as in humans?)

Addtionally, will the vet need to have her blood tested?

I´m afraid that will delay even more until she can have her surgery.

Please, help me!

Thanks

Yes, no food or water before a surgery. Take up her water and any food out now..

I'm guessing she has an open pyo, and not a closed, since they are doing the surgery tomorrow?

Yes on the blood test. That's routinely done before any surgery requiring anesthesia, and most vets have in-house testing ability these days, so it will be in the morning. As to the antibiotics, you call vet and check, but I'd think you're to give her the pills without food or with something like a light coating of peanut butter. Since you're concerned about these things - call and ask.
