I had planned to switch my dog from day care to a dog walker some time ago but the problem is me. I am a new pet owner and apparently more neurotic than Woody Allen when it comes to my dog.

Dogs are OK at home for the day, right? A nice long midday walk/play session with before and after work romps, the dog will be fine, right?

A bazillion dogs have this routine and are happy dogs, right?

Man, why is this so tough?

It's tough because you care. Yes, a bazillion dogs are fine this way. I would keep your dog in a dog-proofed room rather than giving them the run of the house, at least at first. You can leave him with a stuffed frozen kong to keep him busy. Maybe you could ask the dog walker to give him a second one on her way out the door?

Our dog walker does this. I assume Biscuit sleeps all morning and spends her afternoon (or at least a few minutes of it) eating her frozen Kong treats. It's worked out pretty well. Your pup will be FINE!
