I know a lot of places really push the 'cry it out' method, but I feel like when you're dealing with this kind of acute, drawn out distress, it does more harm than good. I'd rather take the puppy back into my room for a while and try again when they're a little older than let them spend hours in a state of high distress - more and more research is pointing to that being detrimental to puppies' physical and emotional development.
