In January I adopted a dog that had wandered up to someone's house as a pregnant stray. They warned me that she was shy (understatement!). It took less than 48 hours to get her to trust me and she's getting more confident everyday. My problem is that she hates collars and will not wear one. This wouldn't be a big deal if she stayed in the yard but the terrier in her compells her to hunt and chase things. She stays to the woods and out of the street but she's often gone for 30 - 45 minutes. She always comes back and she's always completely worn out (and happy) when she returns. My deal is that I don't mind her little hunting trips but I want her to have a collar so people will know she belongs to someone and isn't just a random stray. The last 2 nylon collars I tried on her ended up quickly removed and eventually shredded. I wouldn't leave a chain collar on her even if I thought it would stay on. I'm thinking something that's very light weight and cheap so I can replace it as needed but still something that says collar as opposed to something that just looks like a piece of string.

Minnie is approximately 3 years old and she avoids having a collar put on her in some very imaginative ways.

Does anyone have any suggestions for what to do about this?!

Either of those would be fine (if I had the $$) but I want something people can see. She's not going to approach a stranger and I sure can't get her in a vehicle yet. I just need an idea of something to put on her that willbe light-weight enough she'll forget about and that will be visible so anyone seeing her run past.
