Long day at work, pouring rain when I get home. I take the dog out for about a walk as soon as I get home, but her body language indicates she's even more miserable than me. Despite her retriever blood, she really doesn't like the water, and goes out of her way to avoid puddles. We're back inside in 15 minutes.
So, we're stuck inside for the rest of the night. I usually try to give her at least an hour of either fetch or free play at the park every night. We can work on our commands to keep her mind occupied, but what can I do to wear her out physically?
I live in a 1BR apartment, and have just enough space in the living room to play a game of mini-fetch with her squeaker ball, but I don't want to give her the idea that it's ok to get wild inside. I don't have a treadmill, so that's not an option.
