Quick eater

I'm having some trouble locating this topic using the search function, so I'm very sorry if this has already been discussed =(

Well, so I've been noticing that Sasha is inhaling her food, and barely chewing at all. I've heard of something called a "Bumper bowl," that helps dogs slow down by having to avoid pegs attached to the bottom of the bowl, but for some reason I couldn't find anything on Petsmart.com, Petco.com or google. I've also heard that you can put "obstacles" in their bowl to slow down their eating. I thought about putting something like tennis balls in her bowl, but she'd probably take them out XD Anybody know what kind of obstacles I could use that wouldn't get carried off?

You could try hand feeding her...that would definitely slow her down :D
Some people use large rocks. Make sure they're too big to swallow.

Definitely second this if you decide to use rocks. I'm sure BIG ones work, but I have seen too many exploratory surgeries removing rocks to suggest it anymore. lol.

I'd definitely second the Brake Fast bowl that Westhighlander gave a link to. My friend also couldn't find one at Petsmart or Petco. I haven't seen them anywhere but Amazon.

You can also try raising the food bowl, but I don't know how you'd do that with a corgi :)
I've heard people recommend the tennis ball technique. I've never personally done it (as I have no need to) but from what I've heard from others, it has worked pretty well. Then again, everyones dog is different.
I'm liking the rock idea, I may give it a go =3 I'll be super sure to make sure they're too big for her to swallow, though!! Hopefully she won't pick them up like she would a tennis ball, she's notorious for picking them up and "dribbling" them around the house all by herself XD I'll also see if I can't do a little hand-feeding, too.

Oh, lol, Sasha's actually a blue merle Australian Shepherd! I really should get some pictures of her on here =D The reason why I have a corgi in my sig is because they're pretty much my favorite breed, and I'm planning on getting one next! :D

Me too!:p
Bailey is a fast eater also, I add raw green beans and carrots to her kibble which slows her down because she has to take the time to chew them or pick them out one by one to eat after her kibble is gone! She has also slowed down considerably since I started making her wait patiently for her food.

Oh sorry lol! Well in that case the raised bowl might work with the rock idea. My friend's dog eats food faster than I have ever seen in my life! She can suck down the entire meal in like 30 seconds! It's freaky actually. She raised the food bowl and it slowed her down a lot. She's going to try that Brake Fast bowl next though.
My dog was a speed eater too. Yes I did put large rocks in center of bowl, and also bought a molded 2 sided bowl, intended for food and water, and split the food on each side. Slowed him a little and only cared since was having trouble digesting food.
I tried the one that Valsh recommended and it didn't work for my Poodle/Shih-tzu mix that inhales his food. And I really wanted a stainless steel bowl. So after looking around I found the Durapet Slow-down bowl. It is SS and has a hump in the middle. It also has rubber on the bottom for a non-slip feature. It is really working great! He now finishes his meal when his "sisters" do, not minutes before! Great product. It comes in sizes like s,m,l. I believe the cost is around 12-18.00. It is availabe at alot of websites. In fact, I ordered mine from Petfood Direct when I last ordered Orijen. Another website that has it is www.jbpet.com. Just google slow feed bowl or slow down bowl. Good Luck!
