We are going to enclose our deck so Angie can join us when we are chillin' outside. I want to get an outdoor bed for her and was looking at a dog cot similar to the ones seen at shelters. It seems like a good idea; above any dirt and bugs, easy to clean, and comfy with an old blanket on top. Do these last? Do they feel comfy in them or would I be better off with a regular dog bed built for outdoor use?

The dog cots seem pretty good.

I'd go with a nice thick waterproof foam mat. Like the kind used for martial arts or sometimes seen as playmats in daycares.
More insulating than the cot and very easy to clean.

I personally like the dog cots. But it really depends on the dog. If your dog loves pillows, blankets and soft things you might be better off just getting something 'normal' and taking it inside. Shell's suggestion of a mat is good too.

If your dog sleeps on the floor, or tends to like to get up off the ground (I know, sounds opposite) then perhaps a cot would be best. I like them because they are durable and you can leave them out without too much worry.
