So I've heard a lot of great things about Blue Buffalo and I'm slowly switching my dogs over to it. At the same time I've heard it causes diarrhea and hard to put weight on. So does anyone have any first hand experience with it and how did your dogs do on it?

If you transition slowly I don't think it should cause any upsets. That said, any dog can disagree with any food, so you'll just have to try and see. It's high quality though, so I do recommend it. My firsthand experience is that my dog did fine on it, but didn't love the taste. But she's a bit finicky. When I tried it it was one of the grain-inclusive formulas though, she probably would have enjoyed the Wilderness line more.

Any grain free kibble tends to have more protein, which is better for dogs than grain.

In general they are higher in protein and fat because they contain more meat. It's not always the case (for instances, Nature's Logic contains millet but has similar levels to Blue Buffalo Wilderness) but usually. IMO the grain free formula for Blue Buffalo is superior. It's also more expensive though, if that is a concern.

I guess the best way to find out for my dogs is slowly switch them over to the regular BB formula and then if it doesn't seem to agree with them try the grain-free.

If you have a Tractor Supply Company near by ... their prices are better than some of the regular pet stores I have visited. The Wilderness is only about $5 more than the Regular BB at my TSC.

Thank you for this, I checked and their nearest store is over 45 minutes away from me so it wouldn't be worth the drive :\
