This is the state of a friend's puppy. Its been like this for three weeks, the last time i saw him he had only a few small patches. When i saw him this morning I was completely shocked, his face was fill with scaps and it was bleeding from him scratching at it, his left eye could hardly open now.
I'll be taking him to the vet next week

, any suggestion as to what could have cause this?

Poor pup. I'm not a vet, and can't and won't diagnose over the internet, but make sure the vet does a skin scrape to check for mange.

I have seen this in other dogs.

There will be more hair loss. The poor dog must be miserable.

Definitely, get to the VET as quickly as you can. Meanwhile, keep the dog separate from other pets. Limit the dog's access to furniture.

You may want to begin washing the dog's bedding frequently....possibly daily.
