Puppy with a fever

I have a 5 month old miniature pincher. Tuesday afternoon he managed to get a pretty big piece of grilled chicken breast from my sandwich and ate it all.. he instantly had diarrhea and since then hes been extremely sick.. puking alot, really weak, not eating and hes gotten really skinny. Thursday night I took him to the vet and he had a high fever. The vet gave me 3 different meds, 1 for the puking 1 for the fever and 1 for the diarrhea which has now stopped. The vet said its nothing serious but if by Monday nothing has changed he wants to take x-rays. Im just worried I cant stand to see the little guy like this.. has anyone ever experienced something similiar to his case with their pup?
