We adopted a puppy from the humane society a few weeks ago. We were told she was a German Shepherd/Rottweiler mix. The owner surrendered the entire little of 9 in a malnourished state. We were told she was 12 weeks when we got her, and would be 16 weeks now. Looking at all of the growth charts I can find online she should but at least twice the size she is. She weighs in at around 15 pounds currently. All of her vet checks have been good, she isn't underfed. But I am wondering if she is really going to get as big as predicted. Is there anything beyond a doggy DNA test we can do to find out if she is part something else?

It could be that she is mixed with something else, since litters can have multiple sires.

Don't overfeed her in an effort to make her bigger, though. She will grow as big as she will grow, and extra pounds can adversely effect her health.

For reference, my GSD was about four months old when I found her, and weighed 19 pounds. She was a walking skeleton. Today, at eight years old, she tips the scales at 55 pounds.
