i have my 3 month old cream chowchow.. i just noticed that when he's at the cage and he saw me or our maid, he keeps on jumping. His head always bumps at the roof. When he's out, he act like a crazy dog. Like, he's trying to bite us and he was like " imma bite you, don't touch me!"..

and can ya'll tell me the proper way of feeding them? Because i watched a video and it says, lack of exercise can cause that thing. Is it OK if i walk my Kobe now?

Yay for more Chows ! :)

My chows have always been pretty low key (not a lot of jumping) but they can certainly zoom around a lot when they're under exercised. I like to let my young pups self exercise..so we play in the backyard, etc. rather than a long walk. My area is very heavy with Parvo as well, so while I DO take the pup out to socialize her, my neighborhood is not where she'll be walking until she's older. (lots of loose dogs) We go to less dog frequented areas. But, for basic exercise, we play training games.

As for biting, is it puppy nipping? Many times pups are mouthy, but they need learn that human skin isn't for biting. Goose is not mouthy, but Aesop was as a pup (in play only) and that was a sure way for all attention to end. Puppy mouth on skin=human standing up and leaving the room. He learned very quickly.

At this age you'll also want to get your pup used to grooming, particularly if he's a rough coat that is going to require frequent brushing. I teach mine early on to allow foot and mouth handling, toenail trims and brushing. I don't want to have to fight with a 70 lb dog, so I teach them this when they're wee :)

the quantity of dog food. like how many scoops :) and i feed him twice a day :)
what brand of dog foode are you feeding? I have a German Shepherd puppy 16 weeks old. She gets just a bit over 2 cups of dog food a day (two and a quarter cups). She will likely weigh 70-80 pounds as an adult dog.

Do you live in the US or another country?

Has he had all his shots? What does the vet say?
Has he been vaccinated for Distemper and Parvo Virus? Does your village have a lot of dogs running loose that are not vaccinated? A puppy usually needs another set of shots about now and again in another month to be protected against these diseases. Full immunity is not until attained until he is vaccinated at, or just after 16 weeks of age.

I would probably feed an adult dog food and feed no more than 2 cups a day for now. What does your vet say about walking him where there are other dogs and how his weight is and how his body score is?

2 shots remaining.. shots completed on oct. 27.. MY vets said, we should complete the shots before we start walking..

is it possible to give him a food for adults? There's no running dogs around here. but lots of dogs here are CHEAP DOGS. like they only got, anti-rabies.. i have mine too, 2 cheap dogs but they on their cage. lol
i haven't checked his latest weight. tomorrow is another shot for kobe

No life should be considered cheap. If you haven't gotten proper vet care for your 2 other dogs just because you didn't pay money for them, I hope that changes now. All life is sacred, how much you paid has nothing to do with it. That's a terrible attitude. And I do hope the other 2 dogs get attention, exercise, and proper food as well, and aren't being neglected just because you got a new, expensive puppy.

thank you for opening up my mind. No proper exercise but proper feeding is always applied.. Try to search this word on Google or Youtube "ASKAL"..
Walking waits until the Vet says OK, not the Dog Forum. Vet should always rule. If nothing else the vet has seen the dog.

All your pets should have the same care. I have had many 'cheap' dogs that were the best dogs I ever had. Sheba was a dog this farmer was going to shoot (not a useful dog.. just one someone dropped off and she had puppies.. and he did not feed her so she killed varmints and fed her puppies). I got Sheba for free and had her spayed and vaccinated and she would have fought right next to me to save our skins. A brave good dog.

Now I have to expensive German Shepherds. If I had Sheba today she would have as good treatment as those dogs.

They're good looking dogs. I'm glad you're going to take good care of them from now on. All dogs should have the same care and no preference should be given according to breed or monetary "value".

because here in our country, i think 50-75% of them are worthless. like they found on the dirty streets, losing some skin, untreated good, sometimes they are scavengers.. haha
Thats not worthless that disgusting humans not stepping up to the plate and caring for their animals.

No animal is worthless. That just means that nobody is kind enough to take good care of them. It's not the dogs' fault. It's the humans' fault. No animal should ever be treated unkindly. It is sad that there are so many homeless dogs in your country. I know it's a poor country, and many people have trouble feeding themselves and their children, and can't afford to feed a dog besides, but that would not excuse being mean to the dogs.

yeah, would you believe that sometime they eat dogs.. they pick up some dogs then sell it to other place(s) here that are having a cold temp. and they cook it and eat it.. try to search the word "ASUZENA".

totally agree...
This is why you need to wait until your puppy vaccines are fully in effect (after 16 weeks). In your country you have savenging dogs and this is not uncommon in many parts of the world. These dogs are likely not vaccinated so can transmit disease like Distemper and Parvo to your puppy.

Animals are not treated the same around the world. This forum has a largely US view of things like pets, livestock and horses (that can be pets or working animals).

I have been to NY City and seen dog carcasses hanging in windows dressed for human consumption. Not sure if that is still legal but it was common at one time and was mostly in China Town area.
I have been to other countries, and I understand the differing views. I don't expect every dog in the world to be a spoiled housepet. Even if people must eat dogs, it can be done humanely. Street dogs can also be treated kindly. The people may not be able to afford to feed them (though they usually do OK for themselves by scavenging), and there may be no vet care available, but that doesn't excuse abuse and torture (some people take pleasure in torturing street dogs and cats. They are not good people, regardless of the culture). In every country, good and decent people strive to live their lives without bringing unnecessary suffering to other creatures. And, if someone chooses to keep pets, they should provide the best care they're able to provide, without showing favoritism because of breed or price, no matter where they live.

It is illegal in the U.S. to sell dog meat, and, I think, to kill dogs for meat. I believe that's been the case for a long time. But I do think some things are overlooked in Chinatown, or at least that's how it used to be. They may have cracked down on it in recent years.
