Puppy potty training

I have a 4 month old puppy and if he is in the house and has to go to the potty he will pee on a puppy pad. When we take him outside to use the restroom he pees without a problem. Pooping is the hard part; over the past month he will not poop outside. If we catch him about to poop inside we will take him out and he will just play. And when we take him back in he will poop as soon as we leave the room or walk around the corner. We got him to pee outside by giving him a treat as soon as he pees outside. Is there any training tips we could try?

Are you using a crate? Puppies don't like to go where they sleep. Put him on a feeding schedule 2 to 3 times a day. You need to take him out after a feeding. Then every 2 hours until he gets the idea. Using a crate is a very good tool for a successful housetraining.

He sleeps in his crate at night. But during the day I let him walk around the living room and kitchen. Should I keep him in the crate during the day?

Yes..you should use the crate during the day too until the puppy is fully housetrained...
To clarify- in the crate when you cannot supervise- not in the crate all the time.
