Hello,

So we just got a new puppy and we are having some issues with getting him trained. He is a border collie so he is very high energy, we have another one at home as well so we do have experience with raising border collies. Our other dog did not give us nearly as many issues as this dog is giving us so we are just feeling a bit defeated.
Issue #1: BITING. All he wants to do is bite and nip. You cannot pet him without wanting to attack your hands or any body part. He bites at clothes, feet, ankles, you name it. We have tried everything. Replacing the biting with a toy, ignoring him and turning away when he does it, sternly saying no, etc. When we say no loudly he will stop for a second and stare but nothing comes out of it, he's right back to trying to bite a moment later. He could gave toys all around him to play with and chew but he chooses to bite us and our clothes constantly instead. It just won't stop.

Issue #2: Potty training. We trained our other dog with a bell off of our kitchen door and he was pretty much fully potty trained within a few weeks. The puppy now doesn't really seem interested in using the bell, which is fine but he has been very hard to potty train otherwise. We know he can hold it for longer periods of time because he has never once went in his crate when we haven't been home. However, when we are home, literally let him out EVERY 15 MINUTES and he still proceeds to pee in the house! It could be a dime size few drops but if there is anything in his bladder when we are home and he's loose he will pee in the house. We reward him and give him treats when he goes outside and he knows the word "outside" and knows he will get a treat if he goes. But still proceeds to go in the house too.We also clean up with natures miracle as well too. We are feeling soooo defeated and don't know what else to try at this point as it seems like we have tried everything.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!!!

With the biting, maybe he is teething or is craving lots of attention?? Try to find him a chew toy that he likes the flavor of, that may help keep him busy and satisfied. Also take him for walks, or if you have a yard, you could try tossing a ball for him to retrieve, that will work off some of the high energy that he has, well maybe?
In the first 6 months puppies can be so unpredictable with their potty duties. They say their muscles aren't fully developed before that, but keep training them before hand. I don't know if I was just lucky, all my past dogs were trained before 6 months? Could it be that when you are home, and he is out of his crate, he also is eating and drinking and moving more, so that is activating his bladder and bowel more.

Hopefully, everything will settle and your new fur baby will be just fine. Keep working on it. .
