We have a 5 month old Maltese Shitzu Mix. We purchased him from a pet store when he was only about 2 months old. So far everything has been great. He’s had all his vaccines. He’s mostly kept at home with us (wife and kids). Not much interactions with other dogs.

This weekend we had to travel out of town so we left him with a dog sitter at her house for not even two days. We found the sitter through Rover.com While we were away, the dog sitter sent videos of him interacting with her dog, another puppy, about 11 months old. Videos showed them playing and getting along great.

After returning we picked him up and brought him home. Right away we noticed he was different. Not as energetic as he usually is. Sorta just wanting to be in his crate laying around. Eating but not all his food as he normally does. Call me crazy but he looks depressed.

Could it be that he’s just missing his new buddy he met over the weekend? Or could he be sick somehow? Again, before we went away he was his regular ol’ self. Full of energy and running around the house, playing and chewing on stuff. Now, nothing, just laying out and not wanting to play or do anything.

Please help. I’m truly concerned and worried something might be wrong with him.

Wait a few days, if he still acts the same its time for a vet visit. Being from a pet store, I would be concerned for his health even if any underlying things haven't yet presented themselves. He may just be tired but hopefully nothing is wrong
