Quick question: What are ya'lls thoughts on taking a 2 month old puppy to the river? It's a mastiff/pit mix so he is big lil guy but I was wondering more because of age. Anything i need to be aware of?

Thanks for the help :)

Agreed. Too many bacteria and nasties around. Wait 'til he's got his shots.

In addition to the shots you did not mention if he was going to do any swimming but if so a life preserver also. Yes they do make them for dogs.

i would highly recommend making sure that the current is not very strong...they can get swept down-river quite easily and not be able to get to shore....check under currents, as well....

If the river is shallow and slow, a leash (long training leash would be best) would suffice. Just DON'T TURN YOUR BACK! last fall I took my dogs to the river and Callie was swept downstream (that part was narrow and swift). I had to swim after her!
