Every now and then Spirit, a SCWT will suddenly stop, quickly puke, sniff it, then walk along like nothing happened. There were no changes in energy, mood, or appetite so it took a while but I finally figured out the cause ... fur.

I carefully looked at each one and noticed that it contained a wad of fur & whatever happened to be in her gut at the time. For the past few months now I've been careful to promptly throw away the fur when I comb her, keep her fur short during the summer and I sweep the house regularly to minimize the amount of fur available in the house. If she finds a clump of her own fur she will eat it, so it's something of a race now. However, winter is coming (50* lows, occasional 45* lows possible) and I plan to let her fur grow out (think poodle length fur).

How do I keep her from eating her fur when she grooms herself? Is it normal for dogs to eat fur? I combing her once a day instead of once every 2 days help?
