Proper use of kong

Ok stupid question. I have one of those kongs for my pup. It came with a couple treats that I put in there. He played with it for a while but has since lost interest in it. Are there other treats that I should put it in? I thought I read something about freezing them but that was a while ago and don't seem to remember it clearly.

You can put just about anything in a Kong. Lots of people do treats, pieces of meat, kibble, peanut butter and pure pumpkin. It all depends on what your dog likes. The peanut butter and the pumpkin work really well frozen. It takes them longer to get it out that way, and it's cold, nice if you've got a teething puppy.
Like Binkalette said, you can literally put anything (safe) in a Kong. I like to put peanut butter in Bridgette's every once in a while (I give her the natural kind because the other stuff gives her runny poo). One of the absolute best things to stuff a Kong with, however, are these Natural Balance food rolls. It kind of looks like a summer sausage, but it's more pliable. I cut it into strips and stuff it in Bridgette's Kong and she will pretty much do anything for it! :)

The stuff comes in Beef, Turkey and Lamb I believe and can be frozen. I swear by it.
My first Kong mistake was making it too hard for treats/food to come out. I had everything jam-packed in there and sealed off like Fort Knox and my puppies didn't really have much interest. So I put smaller/"looser" things in it (kibble plus freeze-dried liver, which they go NUTS over) and smeared some pureed pumpkin across the opening, and they were in love with their Kongs.

Definitely -- mine loves those, and they're SOOO much better for the pups than those nasty corn-and-wheat-and-artificial-everything "treats"... chopped Natural Balance rolls and freeze-dried liver make my puppies very very very motivated to play with their Kongs!
I soak dog food, stuff it in there, top it with peanut butter and freeze.
