Hi guys,

I’m looking for some advice. I’m a first time dog owner. I am potentially adopting this sweet 4 year old girl who recently had a litter of 7 puppies. I don’t know anything about dogs that have just had a litter. What is important information to know? would I have to make any changes to diet? Would she be able to socialize with other dogs? I work at a dog training company, and I was wanting to bring her to work with me. I just don’t know if that would be too much for her, or if she needs to rest? she also still has really big teats, so I wondering the best way to treat that?
Thanks!!

We adopted our dog at two years old after she had her second litter (7 pups). She did fine around other dogs, although at times it seems like she missed out on her childhood and gets pretty hyped up running all around. She seems extra gentle around kids and young dogs too. Maybe a motherly instinct.

What breed? How long ago did she whelp? How big was the litter? Did she need a C-section? Is she still lactating?

I certainly wouldn't expect her to go back into heavy training immediately.
