Not only is it extremely hot here, he's got diarrhea and has had it all day!

I think the highest the temperature has gotten here is 103 degrees, but I know for sure that the highest "feels like" degree was 119 degrees. Right now, the feels-like temperature is 117 degrees. Because the house I live in doesn't have good insulation and has thin walls, the inside temperature is 88.5 degrees.

I've given Toby ice cubes to lick on, wet his nose and face in general, and opened the doors to previously-prohibited rooms that are cooler. And, of course, his water bowl stays full and cold.

I feel so bad for him. I'm hot too, of course, but I feel worse for him than I do for myself because I'm not covered in hair. He's not panting at the moment, but he has been. Is there anything I can do to ease the heat, the diarrhea, or both?

Thanks for your advice.

Do you have a box fan? If so I would put that on the floor in front of him. I do that with mine and while they dont stop panting they are not panting as heavy.

Does he like water? Maybe you can get him a small baby pool to lay in. I used to have a lab that would stand in the sprinkler on a hot day. Either way, get some water on that baby, even if it's just the bathtub and cool water. That's good that he's not constantly panting - he's not in distress.

Is there a reason for the diarrhea? Food related? Virus? Just got a shot? You could try giving him a spoonful of plain canned pumpkin to help firm things up. If it lasts long, he needs to see the vet for some medicine.
