So Clayton, my nearly five-month-old puppy, has started eating poo. Not his poo, but poo from other dogs. He does it when we are out on walks or when I let him off leash at a family member’s house.
We have been to puppy class and started working on LEAVE IT. Even in the best circumstances, it’s a weak one for him. In fact, yesterday I told him to leave something in the backyard and his response was to stick his face right in what I wanted him to leave. (An anthill—cleaning ants off his face was not fun.) I’m going to start stepping up that training. We’ll work on it daily.
In the meantime, though, is there anything I can do to make poo-eating less appealing?
