You know......alot of people own dogs, and everyone complains about different things like, on/off leash, the biting, etc etc etc. I have commented on some of the ones on here, specially the on/off leash as I also believe in the leash laws, and it only being in parks as alot of the times when a dog gets hit by a car is because he's unleashed, and wandering about, and the owner elsewhere. Also some people have fears of dogs, just like my daughter as when she was younger, she got bit in the back by a dog. For a long time, when we'd go for our walks after dinner, if she saw any big dogs loose, she'd panic......so that's why again the leash comes into LAW. The one that is unleashed is causing conflict with the leashed, and that then causes issues with dogs. I know that alot of people are experienced with there dog, and walk with there dog unleashed, and think there the better ones, that they have the better dog.... and some people might not be as experienced with theres, so does that mean that the dog that it's owner is less experienced that he can't go for walks incase he sees a dog unleashed? If people want to complain about something when it comes to dogs and there owners......Here's my big ISSUE to owners of ALL dogs. ...............When you take your dog for a walk.......he/she poops............DO YOU PICK IT UP? Man i hate when i see someone walking there dog, .....dog poops......... then the owner walks away and DOESN'T pick it up. If you can't pick up dog poop, why own a dog??????????????

The only time I leave poo is if it's too runny to pick up. But other then that I completely agree! Especially when there are SO MANY little poop bag stations and trash cans everywhere. MAYBE I could understand if you were a long way from home and forgot a bag, but there are so many conveniently placed bag stations available to use for free!!

I pick it up as long as I can.
Blaze backs himself up in to some intresting places while pooping, such as pine bushs and prickly plants. I have shredded my hand over and over attempting to pick the crap up and ripped many bags lol. But I do if it is feasable to pick up with out harming myself. And Yes I do try and stop him from getting in to those bushs/plants, but it doesnt always work.

If out int he woods. again depends. He normally oes running off 15-25 feet of off the trail, no way am I going to search in over growth and trees to find a nice steaming pile lol

that is my biggest thing too, i hate it when i see people do it, so, i confront them!! and they hate it, but, i put it back in their face and say " do YOU like it when dogs do that on your lawn????"

my son is always making sure we have plastic bags to take with us, and even when we go to the vet, he will clean it up.

Callie and I went to the football/track field right after dark, 'cause I'm trying to get in shape and whatnot. Anyhow, right before we left, she took a dump right in the middle of the field.... I left it. Why? my car was a good distance away, and I knew that by the time the field was to be used for anything, the poop would be gone. ;)

I pick up what I can. Mostly my dogs are confined to my yard, so I am not overtly concerned about it.

However, when I take my dog(s) to the small, quiet little dog park and find piles of petrified dog poop, I get angry. The park has only been there for about 10 months, and already people are disrespecting it! I do clean up my dogs' poop each time that they go. It's just nasty not to!

I keep a poop bag carrier thingie on my Rottweiler's bag that we use when we do therapy visits or rottie rescue events. It's a Rottweiler bag with leashes, brushes, treats, etc... and now also the little poop bag carrier thingie too. :D

I always pick up when I can. Always. Sometimes if in at a park and the dog goes twice, and I only have one bag and used said bag and have already thrown it away I'll ask people around me if they have a bag, if they don't I can't pick it up. Usually I'll have at least 3 bags on me, but in those off days...

There was one time when I left my house upset, when Max was still with me. Theres a park across the street from my house (which is the farthest Max could make it). I sat down on the ground with him and of course he had to go to the bathroom. Well I was going to wait until I cooled down, took Max back home and come back to pick up his poop. Well this lady I guess walked by saw that I wasn't "Picking" up and freaked on me. It was clear that I was upset, but she just kept going on and on how kids play there and how I'm an unfit dog owner. Which upset me even more but I calmly told her that I live acoss the street and I forgot a bag, which I will gladly go and get once she left me alone. And ignored her.

It's just plain lazy and disrespectful.........imagine stepping on it when it's freshly dumped by a dog. It stinks, and a mess to clean up specially when you have nothing to wipe it with. When I see someone not picking up, I say something.......it's disgusting and should be picked up.....Yes I agree if it's runny, it's harder to pick up, but come on people.......PICK UP please?????? sheesh

Ugh, I completely agree, on both the poop-pick-up and leash laws.

It's truly not that hard to bring a bag with you, and then bend down every once in a while. It takes what, 3 seconds?? Why's it such a hard concept for people to understand?

And as for the leashes...Yes, there are many people who can trust their dogs off-leash; this doesn't mean they should be off-leash. If they're good off-leash, they'll be good on-leash. And no matter how good they are, they will be in the way of other dogs that are in the area.

If you really want your dog to be off-leash, go to a dog park or something equivalent.

Poo bags are stuffed in every pocket of every coat I own, so that even if I forget to take any when I go out the door they will be there already.

The only time I leave poo is if it's too runny to pick up. But other then that I completely agree! Especially when there are SO MANY little poop bag stations and trash cans everywhere. What blows my mind, is that on the greenbelt trail we walk on regularly, you will sometimes see a bag of poop laid by the side of the path... in other words, someone bothered to bag it, only to leave it lying on the ground as litter afterwards anyway! >=(

There have been a few occasions where I haven't picked up Donatello's poo...

1. I first got him, and there are designated areas where we can walk our dogs to poo, our complex is too cheap to supply poo-stations with extra baggies, but I naively thought that someone came by every week to pick it up... (Of course since then I've come to find that train of thought cute and ridiculous...)
2. He had a tummy ache and was squirting liquid water all over the grass... Even with a baggy, it would have made a bigger mess had I tried to clean it up.
3. I didn't realize I run out of my stash of baggies, and went to grab one and was empty!

However, whenever I'm in public, at the park, at a petstore. I always pick up his poop, even if I have to go to my truck and find paper-towels or something. There's really no excuse to help keep the $hit picked up! (Literately!)

2 times i ran out of bags before iorek ran out of poopies when we were walking. he eats raw so his poopies disappear very fast. i could not get bags and go back since at our park there are only bags right at the beginning of the park (walking trail). i went back the next day for our walk and tried to pick it up but i couldn't find his (it rained over night) so i picked up someone else's poopie! eeeewww, but i felt bad for leaving it the day before.

another time i started our walk on the street and realized that i forgot bags so i started back but of course iorek had to poopie on the way back...so i dumped the sandwich bag of treats into my pocket and picked up the poopie in the baggie and zipped it up. i felt very silly walking up the street with poopie zipped into a sandwich bag...

i agree with the o.p. there is no excuse, ever, for not picking up your dogs mess. i recently moved from the city to the burbs and we bought a pup who prefers to do his business when going for a walk. common sense tells you that when you walk your dog you need a leash, right? well then why not take a couple of doodee bags with you too? they have the little containers that hold the rolls of bags and the whole thing attaches to the leash. otherwise take a couple of plastic grocery bags with you. i pick up my dogs mess no matter what. if it's too loose i still make an honest effort to do the best i can, sometimes using several bags. how would you feel if you, your wife, or one of your kids came running out of the house and stepped in a big stew of poo? whether it's runny or solid WE MUST clean up after our selves and our dog is a responsability that we as dog owners chose to take on. i do see piles of poop when we're on our walks and it just amazes me that someone could be so inconsiderate to leave that mess in front of someone elses house or on a walking trail or anywhere for that matter. i mean, how would someone like it if my 3 year old daughter was out for a walk with us and she just couldn't hold it anymore so i had her drop trow and take a dump on someone's lawn? your dog is a family member and should be treated and cared for in the same manner. people, please - SCOOP THE POOP!

Yep I always always always pick up, not only because it's disrespectful to leave dog poop around, but because I know that karma will come get me and I will step in someone else's dog poop :p

i agree with all, there really is no excuse for not picking up the poopies ;)... some on here have said "it is too far to walk back" my thing is what if you were watching someone else do it, would you not say something? i know i would.

i know i am preachin to the choir, but, for those who make excuses, find something to pick it up with. please ;)

sorry i had to just laugh at your daughter comment :D: LOL,:p it is funny but in all seriousness it makes sense!!! thanks for making me smile today ;)! actually your whole comment makes total sense, just like you would not leave the house when you take a baby to the store with out diapers/wipes/ etc, you should never ever leave the house with out something to carry to doodee away in, even if it is a zippie baggie ;)

For those of you whom said that it sounds like i'm preaching about the dog poop issue. You know what? I have a reason to complain about it here just like everyone else complains about there other dog issues, like on/off leash, dog nipping, etc etc. This is a forum site where we get suggestions , or ideas or help in feeding, training our dogs. Is it just me, or is there ALOT of crabby people these days that have nothing better to do but insult, or treat people bad because they've had a bad day. sheesh it's one of my pet peeves, and had to talk about it as I see people doing this too much, and i ask them to pick it up and just walk away.
