I've lost 2 dogs to osteosarcoma over the years, so I understand your fear. But I don't understand why you say "suspected." With all mine, they were older, showed signs of pain in a limb, and x-rays showed the cancer.
If you have a dog that's showing signs of pain in a limb and someone has just suggested to you that it could be bone cancer, I think you ought to wait for a definitive diagnosis before accepting that has to be the case and beginning to grieve. Even if it is, depending on the location and stage, you may still have some precious quality time with your dog coming.
