I own a commercial cleaning biz and I am at a loss here. I can't find a cleaner that REALLY removes the pee smell from my carpets. I catch him all the time going back to a pee spot smelling and peeing right there again....sigh

Also he chews EVERYTHING in spite of us playing with him and giving him a TON of toys, chews etc. I bought bitter apples and the little bugger LOVES it lol

He is 13 weeks old :)

Well first of all what have you tried? I do not want to suggest something you have already tried.

I use vinegar (let sit for 24 hours) and follow up with Ewwwww by Bissel.

Not sure what to use in place of bitter apple, but I typically crate train and keep a very close eye on them for chewing issues. I will also tether a pup to my waist if I need to move about and keep an eye on them.

I swear by natures miracle !!!
Yeah that is what I was thinking, natures miracle could be an option. I have never used Odoban on carpets, but I know it works on most other surfaces, we use odoban and love it. I was going to say use odoban, glad I asked what you had used, lol.

As for chewing, I really don't have any answer

odiesmom - thank you - where do I find this at please?

Chaos - lol I love odoban!!! I use it all over our home. Like I said we own a commercial cleaning biz and some of the offices we clean have some nasty smells in the carpet so we add odoban just like any other cleaner (after testing a area to be sure it won't mess the rug color up) and it works wonders :) Well except for our fur child pee :(

I went to walmart tonight & they have TONS of products that all swear to remove the urine smell. I could have a lot of $$ wrapped up into finding what works. I plan to try to find what odiesmom said to use. I have seen threads about it here & there and it seems to get a lot of thumbs up.

I've always used vinegar and it works well. Surprisingly well for something so cheap and natural.

We use Nature's Miracle or Urine Gone (only because I got a free bottle!). I think the key to it is following the directions EXACTLY. Soak up as much pee as you can, then dump a ton of the product down to really saturate the area, then wait (sometimes days) until it all dries. If you clean with any other product first, it will make the enzyme less effective. Sometimes you need to re-treat too.

Have to say though, when my pup had gastro a couple weekends ago, and my husband fell asleep "watching" him resulting in diarrhea and puke all over my carpet, it didn't work. I think the key problem was that my husband wiped up but didn't clean the spot with some water to get as much gross out he could before applying the enzymatic cleaner. I ended up using carpet cleaner, baking soda, oxyclean, and then vinegar before my living room stopped smelling like barf. You have my sympathies!

OK - Here is some info I found about scrubbing carpets with vinegar:
1. I use a squirt bottle to do individual spots & do 1/2 warm water 1/2 white vinegar. I also bought a house where the people were animal lovers...but had no idea how to potty train. In the container where the water goes I put 1/2 water 1/2 vinegar and did the entire house. It takes a lot of vinegar doing it that way...but even my grown kids after it dried...was glad I did it. I had them professionally done before we moved in...but the vinegar did the job. It stinks where you're doing an entire house so make sure you can open some windows and have some fans going so that the air circulates & the carpets dry faster. Happy Cleaning!

2. 1 cup white vinegar to 2 cups water

Think I am going to go with the vinegar. I don't know how costly the Natures Miracle is and I need a LOT of whatever I am going to use. I will update how it went. I may not get time to do it until the weekend.

Either type of vinegar works fine. I didn't know you could put it into a carpet cleaner, but that sounds like a good plan. Also, if you're renting the cleaner usually you can buy carpet cleaners that go with it that are specifically intended for pet stains. I have no idea how well they work though.

I buy it at the local feed store or you can order it online and yes you can run it through your rug cleaner. If you need to know where all the old spots are you can use a black light .

I buy it at the local feed store or you can find it online . Runs about 25.00 a gallon but worth it . If you need help finding old spots to treat buya black light they make spots visable just turn off lights then use black light. Make sure you saturate spots and leave them to dry. I also run some through my carpet cleaner after cleaning up a mess to keep it clean. It is good on both carpet and hard surfaces.

I won't be renting anything as we own a commercial cleaning company - I have worked in this field for over 35 years and yet this one smell has me stumped lol I don't do home only offices and businesses so I have not had to do the pee thing - well except for the humans that are hogs in the bathrooms ;)

25.00 a gallon is not bad at all. I have the vinegar so will try that first but will still get the Miracle stuff.

where do you buy a black light at? Any idea of cost of one?

I have aquabac, it's a bacteria based cleaner that 'eats' the bad bacteria that cause the smells from organic matter. It's quite concentrated, I have it 10-1 in a spray bottle and three sprays in the washer does the trick to remove the cat pee smell.

For pet stains you can saturate it, then clean up and spray some more but it gets rid of the smell quickly and if you spray it on an area even quite dilute it will dry then reactivate when wet to help keep the smell down. Love it, it smells nice and floral but not overkill.

What I did was use natures miracle twice on the area and then use the arm and hammer brand carpet powder stuff the following day... Let sit at long as you can and then vaccum it up... Baking Soda works well for this... I have seen Benji walk back to the spot and sniff but not go there again...

I just came from my groomer store and bought a black light the size of a flash light for 10.00 and 1 gallon of Nature's Miracle for 27.00 - I tried the light real quick but we have a very
well lighted home even with the lights and such turned off. So I will try again tonight. I will update later :)
