Hello all! I'm in dyer need of some opinions, I am at the end of my tether!

6months ago me, my fiancé and our westie x shih tzu pup moved into our new house and everything was perfect until we had some new neighbours move next door with their greyhound.

Our pup used to bark when out in the garden but when he was a bit older he'd hardly bark at all, only if something caught his attention and when he did we would bring him straight in. Around that time our new neighbours (well the guy) would shout things over our wall such as shut up & 'sort your f***ing dog out'. Realising this was an issue we have now taken to only taking Alfie in the garden on his lead and when on his lead he does NOT bark and we have never had a problem with him barking when we are not here! Recently our neighbour has got completely out of hand shouting and swearing over the fence, he told our landlord that our dog barks constantly all day which we know is not true as our other neighbour has confirmed she never hears him, she is in alot more rhan he is so if anyone was going to hear him she would and luckily our landlord is on our side.

Today I heard him on the phone saying that me and my fiancé are useless children (we are early twenties who both work!!!) who cannot look after our dog, calling him a rat and saying he barks all the time....during the day when we are working either my mum has alfie or he goes in the kitchen with bed toys etc and hes always been in bed/sleeping when we return) he also strangely thinks we have two dogs! We only have one! He told his friend he had reported us to the council and RSPCA and he thinks he had given us enough 'chances' ...I must point out this guy smokes weed alot, leaves hi dog whining in the garden and has never once maturely approached us on the subject! He even went as far to say that we have loads of dogs because we can't have children (we have never tried to have kids yet) ...I'm absolutely shocked at over hearing this conversation and it is really getting me down, I am considering moving house because of it! Please please anyone do you have any advice?

I'm so sorry! Can you get a restraining order against this looney toon, or at least file a police report? We have a neighbor who HATES animals and used to complain about non-existant problems with our pets. We're like you - we dislike badly behaved animals and don't let our dogs stay outside barking. He'd even come over to complain to me, knocking on our door to harrass me after my husband had left the house! He actually spied on us to determine when my husband was home or not! After the second incident, my husband went over to talk to him, and told him that if he came on our property again, especially when my husband wasn't home, we'd charge him with tresspassing and making threats. This helped a lot; however he's now moved on and is harrassing other neighbors...I've told the neighbors to tell him the same thing we did.

What a jerk that guy is! I'm surprised you've kept your cool, if he kept going on I think I would've shouted about how he treats his dog. I agree with georgiapeach, go to the police and file a complaint against him. Maybe your landlord could do something as well.

My jaw dropped reading this.
This guy sounds like a complete loon o_O

He even went as far to say that we have loads of dogs because we can't have children. . .
This one really got me. dafuq.

This sounds like a valid case of harassment. Does he tend to call your home? Do you have an answering machine, if so? I would try to let him record a few messages, maybe even a sneak a camera when he comes around to try and catch him on video being nuts. I would report him for harassment and see what you can get done.

Write down all the incidents date them etc. keep a log. So that you have a strong case if dog control comes knocking or whoever. He sounds like a nut job honestly. My hubby would have gone and decked him by now but that doesn't help anything. I'm sorry you have to go through this it's not nice at all.

Awww...I feel so sorry for all of you. Just watch that he does not throw baited food over into your yard. He really sounds as though he may have either drug addiction or mental health issues...perhaps both. I would be having a chat with your local police as to how they would suggest you handle this situation. You want to stay safe. Best of luck!

I also agree with counter-reporting with the RSPCA, I have read (don't live int Europe so infant confirm this) that they are very good & diligent when an animals health & safety is or might be at risk, I would tall them also & tell them that you fear for your dogs & your safety, fearing he might toss some poison over the fence or something.

I just left a job (got laid off but we were planning to eventually leave anyway) from a horrible workplace where I was having the same issues with a guy we worked with & my dogs, I believe he was responsible for the death of one of our dogs tho I couldn't prove it, I would hate to see this kind of thing happen to someone else, it was hell to live thru :( :(.

It sucks that the dog(s) who do nothing wrong are always the ones who are inadvertently punished for the actions of a crazy person :(
