yea i have eris but would like to here what everybody thinks:

about my family:
5 children(ages 8 6 4 2 and 6 months)
all active and energentic, dont have a vehicle so we walk alot to stores, to school to the dam and so on and so forth
2 kittens
rats
large half house

any suggestions?

Im thinking maybe a Beagle?
i had one of those a friend dropped off to me when; i was in college it jumped out the window and tracked me to the college( i lived close to it) it went as far as to actually find me in the college....it was funny but oh did i get in trouble!!

Beagles are out, sorry. They have a tremendous prey drive and do not do well with small animals. Both the dog AND your existing pets would be completely stressed out by each other's presence. I have two Beagles and if I had a cat, rabbit, ferret or etc in my house I have no doubt they would chew through a wall to get at it. They are NOT aggressive dogs but they were bred to chase prey.

Golden Retriever, or a mix thereof, might fit the bill. They are heavy shedders and need to be groomed regularly though.
