I was wondering if anyone might have tried Nutro Ultra or Nutro Venison and Brown Rice? Any feedback on your personal experiences would be greatly appreciated!

I haven't fed Nutro for 20 years, but I was shopping at Petsmart and a Rep got ahold of me and now I'm considering these formulas.

I told her I knew about Mars buying the company recently and that for while the Lamb and Rice wasn't available. She told me that they were having trouble with their Lamb suppliers. I wonder where all the other companies that use Lamb were getting their meat?
She showed me an inter-office memo about the whole Consumer Affairs thing and that there was no class action suit against Nutro. I believe that there was concern over zinc and copper levels in the foods, but was assured that the levels were within the AAFCO limits.

I sometimes wish I didn't know so much! I've got analysis paralysis!

I was just thinking about when I was in Petsmart and the Science Diet Rep starting talking to me...lol

Now, I have nothing against SD...in fact that is the only canned food ( I have found) my dog will eat, and I have fed kibble, the Sensitive Skin formula with great results.

However, the Rep had his facts kinda screwed up, for instance, he said that Hills is the only Prescriprion food available. And Hills uses the same methods to make SD as the Prescription foods. That's fine, but he obviously didn't know about Royal Canin's Prescription line, oh yeah and Purina and even Iams has Prescription food. I didn't bother to correct him. Sometimes, I feed it's just better to nod and keep my mouth shut, LOL!

AND YES...I was approached by both Science Diet and Nutro Reps that day! Oh and they were joking amongst themselves, because the SD rep gave me a $4.00 coupon whereas the Nutro rep only had $2.00 coupons.

Nutro stopped sending products to Greece.
I think it's a very good dog food.
Nutro Ultra is pretty good.Many people used to feed that to their dogs and were doing great.

We switched off of Nutro, we were feeding Nutro Lamb and Rice. A lot of people said it wasn't a decent food, and the Nutro Lamb and Rice received a 2/6 star review. Previous Nutro products were recalled, too, so we don't trust it anymore. However, our dogs seemed to love the taste of it! I heard it used to be a better quality food and then they changed the formula.

Some good foods we heard are: Merrick (but it gave our dogs diarrhea. Lots of dogs do fine on it), Natural Balance Ultra (our dogs didn't like the taste, though), Innova (haven't tried this one), Solid Gold (dogs didn't like the taste), and Wellness (dogs didn't like the taste). Yes, we have picky dogs. But maybe you could take a look and try some of these foods? Now we're going to try the Blue Diamond Lamb and Rice food, hopefully they'll like that.
