Only 5 minutes of whining? That's pretty good for a brand new puppy...It is normal for them to whine, sometimes for hours, when they are learning about the crate.
There are a number of things you can do to get your pup to really like the crate. It sounds like yours is already pretty accustomed to it, though! Did her breeder/foster do some crate training? You can smear some peanut butter in a Kong and give that to your pup when she has to be in the crate for a while. The chewing/licking is very calming to puppies. Be careful with rawhide, it can be a choking hazard. Feed the puppy all her meals in the crate. Look up 'crate games' on this forum. To lure her into the crate, try using a hot dog or something else really yummy, like a little piece of cheese. I don't like forcing dogs into their crate. Luring is better.
