I have a 16 month old male Lab Mix and he has been very good with not urinating inside the house. The past couple weeks I noticed my dog started to urinate a bit when he gets excited. Also around the house I would notice spots where he would urinate. I'm not sure what is going on. Hopefully you guys can help me out. I heard dogs can go through an adolescent stage but not sure if this is it. He is house trained. Like I said it started about a couple weeks ago. Thanks guys.

I agree. If this is a new thing, and he had been doing well, it could be that he's developed a UTI. So, a trip to the vet would rule out an infection.

If there's no infection, and he only does it when he's excited, it could be "excitement" or "submissive" urination. Usually puppies grow out of this. This type of problem isn't really a house training issue, it's more like they just can't hold it when they get excited, like an involuntary thing. If you can identify what makes him too excited, you can try to manage those things, or make sure he's outside when he gets excited. For instance, one of my dogs does pee every time we visit my dad. So, whenever we go visit, I make sure they first say hi and greet each other outside, so that if he gets excited and pees, it's outside.
