I have a puppy, he is 4 months old. My vet said he is a French Mastiff mix. I have been looking for some advice on puppy food. I currently feed him Iams. He seems to be doing good on it, no gas & firm stools. I have heard some good & bad about the brand, just wondering some opinions & looking for recommendations! Thanx

Welcome to DF :D

Can't wait to see pics!

Iams isn't the best, but it isn't the worst either, and if he is doing good on it, I wouldn't change.

Some better food would be Wellness, Innova, Chicken Soup, and some others.

He has been doing really good on it. I have had him since he was 6 wks old. I know thats early, but the people selling him weren't the brightest! He eats 3xs a day. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. At lunch time he eats a Iams can. Then dry the other 2xs. He loves loves loves 2 eat! He has tripled his weight since I have had him. I aslo have a toy poodle. She eats Natural Choice cans. She HATES dry foods. She refuses to eat them. I have tried just about every kind out there, including Chicken Soup. Maybe you have other suggestions for a picky eater?

Hi & Welcome....your puppy looks adorable! I love that chocolate brown color....I've heard Iams isn't too good.

Dog Foods these days are very confusing....the best ones are with the first ingredient being Chicken/Lamb/or Fish .....with nothing with the word Gluten -- and very little fillers --- go to www.dogfoodanalysis.com --- it's a very good site.

I use Blue Buffalo --- Petsmart carries it.:)

Thank you for your suggestion on food. I wonder if Petco carries it? There isn't a Petsmart nearby :-( And thanks for your comment on my puppy.. Your husky is beatiful!
My vet referred me to Iams because I wanted to get a decent food that would be affordable. Going up a little in price would work for me. I will have to call around tomorrow.
