New To Forum, not new to dogs

Hello, I am joining in hopes of finding answers to just about anything I come up with during my new journey with a new dog I am picking up from a shelter tomorrow night.

We put a 12-year old Boxer (Luke) down at the beginning of April. We loved him, but he had tons of issues that were basically all our fault. This time around, I have the entire family trying to understand dog psychology better so we can raise a cool, well-balanced dog.

I'm joining to be able to double-check on every possible situation I might be doubtful about. I'll make great use of the search feature and only post if I can't find a decent answer to my current situation.
