Great the main reason i joined was i am having puppy problems. I have an 8 month old lab/pointer cross. We got him from our local humane society. He is full of energy and refuses to listen to me he will jump up, bite and scratch. I have had dogs in the past and never had this much trouble any suggestions.

I imagine you will have to re-teach yourself a lot with how to train your dog. I personally suggest positive&treat training, and no bad corrections. This means no hitting, yelling, swatting, kicking, using newspaper, all of that.

Your dog likely has never had any training, so you will need to be super, super, patient and understanding. You will do best to treat it as a brand new, baby puppy, because that's the level of training it has had.

Also, exercise is a very, very important step to having a better trained dog.

Even though you're not a first time dog owner, there are helpful guides here: http://www.dogforums.com/first-time-dog-owner/

And this will be one of the main places for you to learn: http://www.dogforums.com/dog-training-forum/
