Hello all,

This seems like a great group. I'm happy to be here. Thought you might have a little fun helping me with guessing the breed of our new dog.

We have adopted this sweet girl and will pick her up on Saturday. She was listed as a boxer mix. I see some boxer in her and maybe some cattle dog (pricked ears).

I had a boxer person tell me that she looked at a boxer/catahoula puppy and they looked very similar, except for the ears. However, I have also had a couple of people utterly convinced that she has pittie in her. Well, I posted her pic on a pit bull forum and no one seemed to think that she looked all that pit-bullish. They seemed to think she looked much more boxer than APBT. But I'm curious about what you guys think.

The pictures below are from the rescue so I don't have any body shots, unfortunately. But she's 18 months - 2 years old. She is currently 36 pounds but was taken from an abusive situation and should probably weigh about 40. She's about 18 inches high. Her ears are natural, not cropped. And she has a very short tail - not sure if it's docked or natural. Her chest is quite broad.

Looking forward to what everyone thinks. It doesn't matter what "breeds" she has in her because whatever it is has added up to a bundle of pure love!

So without further ado, heeeeere's Mayzie!

I see Boxer for sure...and I am inclined to go with what the shelter said about the Heeler because of the ears. Something in her had to have upright ears naturally, like a Heeler. An APBT probably wouldn't nor would a Catahoula.

What ever she is...thanks for rescueing her, she will undoubtedly give you lots of love in return!

Definetly agree with having some Boxer in her. Very unusual yet beaurtiful colors. She is very cute!

I see Boston terrier x pit bull. Just a random guess.

In the first pic she looks a bit like a French bulldog. But the second pic, she definitely has the boxer muzzle. But her skull looks a lot like she has some bully breed in her.
Very pretty girl. Congrats!

I think the ears are most likely boston....but I feel like if she was a boxer/Boston mix then her muzzle would be much shorter....thats what makes me think there is something else in there....of course there could be 2,3,4,5 other breeds...maybe there is some boston/boxer/apbt/catahoula all mixed together :)

Purebred APBT's can actually have erect ears, so that's still an option.

Thanks for all your wonderful replies! I love hearing everyone's thoughts on this. I'm REALLY hoping we get to pick her up tomorrow. As you can tell, I'm in Colorado. The rescue is located in a rural area about 3 hours away and they bring their dogs into the city for adoption fairs. We had a big storm yesterday and today. I'm just hoping they can actually get into town tomorrow! Keep your fingers crossed.

HersheyBear - That's interesting about it being possible for APBTs to have naturally pricked ears. The people on the pit bull forum didn't say anything about that.

BoxMeIn21 - Thanks for the compliment on her name! We had a huge list and I finally let my hubby make the final decision. I love it and you're right...it really does fit her.
