What your describing is pretty common behavior in mastiff breeds.
Hanksimon is pretty much spot on in what is going on.
Also there generally fine with other dogs.
It actually sounds like he has correct and good temper.
Though get ready for the fear stages in a few months, for these it is best not to react to whatever he keys on as scary and just walk him past it as if nothing is going on.
Between 12 and 18 months your going to get the teens stage and it will require re-enforcing the basics, as they will try to test the rules to no end.
Also mastiff breeds are velcro dogs as your learning, there not a outside dog and will always want to be by your side.
