I am very impatiently awaiting my new house with a huge yard.. and my "puppy possibilities" imagination is running wild. SO I want to hear about everyone else dog hopes and dreams to pass some time.

Have any puppy/dog plans coming up? Have a current breed crush you are thinking about seriously getting next (or one day)? Have no hope of getting a dog/puppy anytime soon but want to tell the world how you really want X dog in 10 years? Cool, I want to hear about it! And any fun plans for said dog.

I'm still waiting on an Aussie puppy for show and any sports they might enjoy. The breeding did not take last time and I am going to see if it does this time. If that does not go through, I might have to consider other options depending.

My other deep desire is a Toller. The more of them I meet, the more I feel the connection to the breed. It all depends how it pans out with an Aussie and life but I really hope to be able to get a Toller within the next 3-10 years for Show/Agility and Dock Diving.

Me, I have been into everything.. So very pleased with my current group, they are perfect , maturity is just icing in the cake. Done so well in LGD duties. just added to female goats to our all male withered, and two of them intact herd. Will start having babies next year and milk. Seeing the dogs instinct kick in and maturity love the CO's. Happy letting them mature and grow and age before adding another puppy or 2 to learn from them. I intend to grow my herd to 20. Nigerian Dwarfs are the cutest lawn mowers and weed eaters so enjoyable to have them.. And great that the dogs love the job watching over them..

I have two litters that I am watching and seriously considering asking the two breeders if they will notify me if they decide to do those breedings again in the future that I would be interested in getting a puppy from them.

I would love to get a Central Asian Shepherd, but monitoring the breed and the people who own them, not sure I fully want one in a multiple dog household. even as a LGD.. would love the less fur, but don't feel they will ever be a good fit for my home. Still love and crush on the breed..

I met a GSP on a hike the other day and I absolutely fell in love. I've always had the breed kind of in the back of my mind, but I'd never met one before. I thought that the breed may fit well for my lifestyle in some ways, but not necessarily others. Well, I know this was only one dog and I only walked with her and her owner for maybe 20 minutes before parting ways, but this dog was exactly what I heard and read that a GSP was like and I LOVED HER. She was amazing and I hope I see her every time I go back and maybe her owner will want to give her to me.

I constantly go back and forth on Next Dog, and I know I'll be inheriting a pittie into the family before I actually get another dog of my own. But meeting that lovely dog may have secured the GSP's place at the top of my must-have list. Just have to meet some more! And I've begun stalking some breeders already, of course

I also think of getting a nice mutt with a mellow personality, just having a go-with-the-flow cuddle bug that is way more low key and low maintenance than Brae.

I also think of getting a small dog just to have two but not feel like having the cost or responsibility of two med/large dogs.


But really, I don't have any plans for the next 5 years at least, unless something surprises me. If my boyfriend ever says "I want that dog" then I will pretty much agree on the spot (barring any severe medical or behavior issues). Brae really is a handful and more than fulfills the role of living with and training a dog. I say this in the best way possible, but my life feels full enough with just him.

I have my hands full right now and money is tight, but I still want another Newf down the road. I'm still unsure between a puppy or a rescue, but I will probably go with a rescue, honestly. But I have 4 pets right now, the youngest dogs are 2, I need to finish school and get a job, so it's going to be a while.

I have two which is enough dogs. When Questa goes.. sometime likely in the next 2-3 years (she is 9) I will have ONE dog and that will be fine. About a year before he retires I will either get another GSD puppy to start in IGP or I may not. It will depend on where life is at that point and the availability of training helpers. If both those things look "right" for the foreseeable future I will get the puppy. If not I may be done.. and eventually be dogless. I do not want to age out and end up with my dog needing to find a home in one of those Craigslistings "elderly owner died and dog needs home."

BTW to the OP.. of the two dogs (Aussie vs Toller) the Toller is a better dog all the way around. I like every one I see. Aussies? not so much.. lots of nervy ones out there.

I've had to turn down the offer of a Standard Rat Terrier. Young adult, finished champion, and ready to move on to performance events.... and I'm too darned broke to take on another dog in the foreseeable future.

Right now I am just trying to survive puppy hood. I got my bichon in December. She has been a major challenge especially when it has come to potty training. Somewhere around 8 months she finally turned a corner and figured out where she is supposed to go. We are currently working with a trainer to help reinforce all the commands she learned in group puppy class. She is coming along well. She will be spayed in a couple weeks so I am hoping that helps settle her down a bit. She is the energizer bunny for sure.

I am looking into Collies. I wouldn't get one until Ralphie has passed, as one dog is plenty for me! That won't be for many years (Ralphie just turned 4 on July 15th!). I want my next dog to be incredibly stable, able to go anywhere with me and be comfortable in many different situations, and comfortable with strangers coming in the house.

My husband kind of wants a hunting dog, but I'm not at all sure when or if he'll pull the trigger on that. I've been trying to convince him to get a poodle! I would also consider a poodle for myself for agility!

I also kind of have a crush on the Pomeranians a lady at our agility club has. They are the cutest things! I would love to have a cute little fluffy dog to take everywhere with me, but I don't know how practical it is now that we live in the country! We have some very large hawks and who knows what else, and I would fear that the dog would be picked off if I take my eyes off of it for a second.

Always use the SO as an excuse to get another dog, haha. I understand wanting the lower maintenance of a "mellow" dog or a smaller dog. But at least Brae is a really great dog to fill the role you hoped for. He is awesome.

I already have an Aussie, but I do want another. They are the breed I set my heart on first. I've been keeping close tabs on different lines for years so I'm not too worried about nervy issues. My girl is full of herself and has been a wonderful confident sport partner. I'm more worried about lacking in drive with some of the show lines. I do want a Toller too though. I have loved every single one I have met.

I know a lovely Smooth Collie who is an absolute rockstar at agility! They are such nice and beautiful dogs.

LOL LOL LOL LOL.. so had to laugh after 25 years with GSDs and then changing to a guardian breed.. I laugh every time I take the CO's out for pasture training with the goats, find a nice cozy area to take a nap until it's time to walk with everyone back into the homestead... "Giant Tribble" is not a bad thing and it actually grows on you...
