So, my puppy was neutered on October 28, but the incision still isn't healed. It didn't look infected or anything, but I still took him to the vet about a week and a half ago, just to have it looked at, since it was taking so long to heal. The vet said it looked great and that he would heal just fine.

I have a certificate in veterinary assisting, I'm trained as a tech and have worked in a few clinics. However, it still throws me off that it's taking so long to close. I've only worked in the field for about 4 years, but I have spent my entire life around animals and I have never seen a neuter incision take so long to heal. I definitely didn't think it would take longer than my other pup's spay.

I was just wondering if anyone else has had this issue? It's becoming increasingly difficult to keep him subdued and keep him from playing when he's 7 months old and has basically been locked up and unable to play for the last month. Thank you!

Hmmm.....IMHO....something isnt right. You are 4 weeks post surgery. Should be healed. Suggest to have a 2nd Vet evaluate the wound.

When my dog was neutered, here in China, the vet used surgical adhesive to close the wound. No stitches. My dog healed in no time and only had to endure the cone for 2 days. I kept activity on the low side for just a few days. Short walks, easy play.......but within 3-4 days we were back on normal routine. I also waited until he was over 1 year old.

Either take him back to the vet, or take him to another vet for a second opinion.
