This is Charlie. ...
Charlie is about a year old. He must have been 9-10 mos old when I got him. He weighs 30 lbs. At first we thought he is a cocker-poodle mix. The veterinarian thinks he is all cocker. Suggestions & other comments regarding his breed are appreciated.

Pepper is about 8 years old. I guess his weight to be about 60 lb, perhaps a little less. He was a true pound puppy (adopted from a shelter when he was almost 1 yr old). I have included a picture and you can see that he is marked like a Border Collie. His shelter description said he was a border collie mix but it didn't say what the mix is. He definitely has a double coat very thick. He doesn't seem to have herding instincts but early on he appeared to point occasionally. His bark sounds somewhat like a basset hound but he has no other basset hound traits that I can see. One veterinarian thought his head looked a little like a beagle...no other beagle traits either. Any ideas would be appreciated. Some people thought he looked like a Brittany Spaniel when he was younger. He is very sweet, wants to please and still learns quickly.

A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAVE RESPONDED AND ALL WHO WILL. Everyone thinks Charlie is a cocker (with the vet). The high vote for Pepper is English Springer Spaniel. Accounts for everything about Pepper except the bark. The "mix" must be a mix, too. Thanks!

Charlie looks to be all American Cocker Spaniel to me. Probably wouldn't get by a conformation show, but I don't see anything else in him.
THAT HAIR AH <3

Pepper looks like some sort of spaniel mix, but honestly I'm only going by his face and coat.

I agree with the cocker spaniel. The black and white dog- springer spaniel/BX mix. There is one in my OB. class for 4-H that looks like your dog, just not as many spots.
