We just adopted a Lab mix and his front nails are in bad shape. At first I thought they were just long but after looking at the underside I see that they are cracking. They don't seem to be cracked all the way to the quick and I don't think he's in pain.

I want to clean them up but I have read that nail clippers may damage/crack them more. Some ppl recommend putting super glue in the cracks and then filing them down. Anyone have any experience with fixing cracked nails? How did you do it and did it work out OK?

Looks like mostly superficial cracking. I would use a dremel and file them down and around, asap. Find a groomer to do it if you arent comfortable. I wouldnt use trimmers, as yes, they can make it worse. A few months on a good food and weekly filing will correct this. :)
