Hey all,

So we have an 8 month old chihuahua mix that we just got. She is really well behaved, but we are having some problems with our night time routine.

We have been crate training her, so when we go to bed, she goes in the crate. She's quite obedient and will go right in. But at around 3 am or so, she will get restless and start yelping. So we get up and take her out for a quick pee and poop (which she does pretty quickly).

Now after we get back, we try to put her back into the crate for some more sleep. But after a few seconds of being back in the crate, she starts squealing and barking. Unfortunately the only way we can get her to stop is to bring her into bed with us. When she gets in bed, she will cuddle for a bit and then doze off. We realize that we have created a monster by giving in to her barking, but the problem is that we live in a town house and can't have her barking incessantly throughout the night.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to get her to stop the barking? We thought about maybe crating her in a separate room, but we're worried she'll get nervous being alone.
