Ever since I've left for college, I've missed my mut Maggie very much. I miss my mut so much, that I miss her more than my family. Is this normal???

family is something that is kind of taken for granted. they are always there (hopefully), you grow up with them, get used to them being around.
a dog comes into you're life and you probably at that point spend more time with the dog training etc than with you're family.

I think its normal. You can always call your family or email them but you can't "talk" with your dog. When you go away to college, you're supposed to be leaving your family behind and kind of starting your own independent life but your dog is not "supposed" to be left behind in the same way. Not that there is anything wrong with your dog staying behind with your family, but that there isn't some expectation that as your grow up you move on from your dog. You're probably used to spending as much or more time with your dog than with your parents or siblings and of course you probably never get into arguments with your dog either

If you just miss hanging out with dogs, I bet your local humane society or shelter would love a volunteer to walk the dogs, give them baths and such.
