My ~1 year old bichon mix just got in her first heat cycle.
Just wondering if there's anything i should know or avoid and is it normal to get in her first heat at this age?
I am not planning on breeding her or anything, but i couldn't spay her because I live in Syria and we don't have animal hospitals that operate spay on dogs here..
I live in a house with 4000 square meter yard with rabbits, chickens and ducks with 2 meters fence.
She sleeps right under my bed (don't know why)
I Know i shouldn't let her near any other male dog but is there anything else i should be aware of?
oh and can i give her a bath? a friend told me that giving her a bath would make her bleed more.

Yes, you can give her a bath, it will NOT make her bleed more but it will knock down the smell that some girls get while in their heat.

Be sure she's supervised at ALL times when she's outdoors, male witha high drive will do anything to get to a bitch in heat, including climbing fences of any height and digging under walls.

If she has a lot of discharge, infant diapers can be used as 'panties' just cut a hole for her tail or use an infants "Onesie' type body suit turned so it fastens in the back and a thin feminine pad will work to keep the house cleaner.
